Why MLC?

Our goal at the Montessori Learning Centre is to foster a lifelong love of learning and to prepare children for success in a variety of life settings. Our highly trained, calm, caring teachers guide the children in the exploration and manipulation of classroom equipment, and encourage individualized learning and independent choice-making based on the child's inner needs and developmental level. Each child learns differently from the next, and MLC's environment recognizes each child as an individual.

At MLC, respect for the child and for the child's work is an integral component. Mixed age groups provide opportunities for peer guidance as older children assist and act as role models for younger children. In this child-centered approach to learning, children work side by side on activities they choose, developing social skills, self-confidence, concentration, and a love of learning.

At MLC we value and depend on family involvement. Parents are invited to participate actively in the school and to spend time in the classroom. The teachers welcome parent help through volunteering in the classroom, in baking for special events, assisting on field trips and in art projects, fundraising, ordering books, and many other activities. We have a strong family involvement based on mutual respect, open communication, and the love for our children.

We welcome you to visit our school during classroom hours and see for yourself the benefits that MLC has to offer. A teacher will be available to speak with you while class is in session. We look forward to seeing you!
